Dentley's ChewRite Choobles create a satisfying, healthy reward for your dog.

July 12, 2010 7:50 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

ChewRite Choobles, by Dentley, are chew treats made for dogs out of beef bone and flavored with artificial apple and peanut flavors. The treat is hard enough on the outside to stimulate chewing and promote good dental health, and soft enough on the inside to make a delicious reward when your pet reaches the meaty center.

I have to confess that I was skeptical the first time I gave my dog a Chooble. The exterior of the treat is so hard and thick that I thought he would get discouraged and give up before reaching the soft center. I was wrong. Unlike rawhide or pork skins, which have become popular in other dog chew treats, the beef bone and ground-beef bone used to create the exterior of Choobles softens quickly when chewed and my dog was able to reach the soft meaty center in about thirty minutes.

The center, I’ll admit, was another area of concern for me because my dog has a sensitive stomach and peanut butter usually comes right back up. But Choobles' soft, meaty center didn’t present a digestion problem. He quickly wolfed the first one down and remained cheerful, active and unencumbered the rest of the afternoon.

Like other treats that are hard enough to stimulate chewing, make sure to give Choobles to your pet only once or twice each day. Just because the snack is edible and delicious (and high in protein and fiber as well), don't be tempted to let your dog start demanding these treats as normal food.

Pros: Easy on digestive systems. Stimulates chewing.

Cons: None.
