This book may seem beginner friendly but it is not. It has alot of info that could get you into trouble. I would recommen alot of other books. Just skip it.

First, let me say I love the "Everything" series of books, as they have give you a fairly instant and painless general understanding of a given subject. This book at 289 pages is packed with information on horses & horsekeeping. Some of the chapter titles include:

History of the Horse
Horse Breeds
Anatomy
Horse Behavior
Stabling
Nutrition
Grooming
General Health
Handling
Types of Horsemanship
Tack, Apparel & Accessories
Equine Careers

It also contains several pages of resources and a short Glossary. There are a few color photos at the center of the book and a few line drawings through out the book. I like the type of paper the book is printed on as it lends itself to highlighting and making notes in its' wide margins. Thinking of buying a horse, read this book first. Know a horse crazy older child, buy them this book. Once you think you really want to buy a horse, you'll want more detailed information though.
