This book has everything, sad, happy, mystery, madness & frustration. It really gives you a good picture of life with these particular dogs. Jon writes with honesty & descriptions everyone can appreciate whether they are enthusiastic readers or not. A good buy & read!

The book jacket describes Jon Katz as a 'chronicler of rural life to rival James Herriot'. A very accurate description. Although he makes his living as a writer, he is living the life that many fantasize about--out in the country. Although he is not dependent on it for an income, his little farm is a working farm of sorts. His companions on the farm include donkeys, cows, sheep, dogs and cats. All feature in his story. I enjoyed every minute of this book.
