The easy-to-use Kittens for Dummies covers an impressive amount of basic information.

January 24, 2011 5:00 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

In Kittens for Dummies, Dusty Rainbolt casts a wide net and reels in just about everything there is to know about kittens. The book has two tables of contents -- an abbreviated one and a more detailed one -- and an index with more entries than the Dewey Decimal System. Bottom line: what isn't in here, isn't worth knowing about kittens. The book begins with kitten basics -- such as how to make sure you are getting a healthy one and how to prepare your home for your kitten's arrival.

The book is full of useful tips for keeping your kitten healthy, including insuring that your kitten's diet is as healthy as it can be and recognizing signs of ill health. There is even a section covering the psychological health of your kitten and how to understand his body language. There are more than fifty pages dedicated to kitten behavioral problems and how to deal with them, as well as how to ensure that your kitten develops good manners for when you have guests over. Like the other books in the "... for Dummies" series, the writing is spare and packed with information, and the language is always entertaining. As a bonus, the multitude of indexes, chapter guides and quick-help tools makes finding what you're looking for simple.

Raising kittens into cats can be complicated, but thanks to Kittens for Dummies, finding the information you need -- when you need it -- is not.

Pros: Easy to understand; large range of information.

Cons: None.

I Needed It!

posted 6 years ago

Boy, was I ever a dummy when we were getting our first cat. I was in the middle of my life and I had never had a cat, my spouse had never had a cat and I didn't even know how much I didn't know! A friend gave me this book as a "starting point" and it was SO helpful.

The book is easy to read, entertaining and has lots of helpful hints. While I would never say "this is the only book you need", it was a great place to start learning.

Pros: Easy to Read, Informative, Entertaining

Cons: Shouldn't be the only thing you read

Iams ProActive Health Multi-Cat Chicken & Salmon Cat Food

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
