I know of two other horses besides my own that didn't like these. My horse and one of the others both have matching scars on their legs from these bell boots. Another horse got a slightly different Davis Bell Boot and she tore them up in a day so she got another pair and irritation proceeded. These boots are one of my biggest horse regrets. These boots are the bane of my exhistance. I reccomend trying other bell boots before these. I would even use pull ons instead of these.

I really like these bell boots, because they offer good protection. They are affordable and stay in place. The velcro wears out LONG before there is anything wrong with the plastic part of them, but at that point, they are cheap enough to replace. Some very sensitive horses can get rubs from them though, as the rubber/plastic material is kind of hard...but then again, if it wasn't it wouldn't offer much protection...

These cute boots come in a variety of fun colors and are simple to put on with the velcro clasps. However, I have noticed that they tend to be too tall for many hooves, and will rub if this is not attended to. To fix this, simply trim along the bottom with a sharp scissors. The boot should not touch the ground when properly fit (about 1/4" away), but should protect the heel bulbs and back of the hoof.

Pros: Easy to use and clean, effective

Cons: Tend to be long and might require trimming to fit the hoof
