This product is awesome. I had my horse at OSU for surgery on his hock and the vets there were so impressed with his hooves that they talked about them for several minutes.

In Ohio, the weather goes from constantly wet to drought-like conditions, making it extremely hard on hooves. This pattern sucks all the natural moisture from them, causing them to crack and split. Hooflex offers great protection.

I monitored the hooves and applied once a week or as needed, judging how soft or hard the bulb of the foot was. If the hoof is extra dry, I would "wet" the foot prior to the application. The product adhered nicely and left my own overworked hands nice and soft afterwards.

Pros: The product lives up to its claim.

Cons: Gets just a little "stiff" in the container when applied in cold weather.

When I first got horses, this was one of the first things I was told to keep on hand. Many years later, I still keep it in my grooming kit. It helps keep dry hooves moist, which keeps them from cracking. It is a great conditioner for hands as well. Zip and Chance accept the treatments without a thought. It doesn't bother them at all.
