Flu Avert I.n.

Flu Avert (Equine) I.N., 10 x 1 dose SKU: 060HES01-1 [printable] FLU AVERT™ I.N. VACCINE Intervet Equine Influenza Vaccine Modified Live Virus - For Intranasal Use Only NOTE: A new applicator should be used to vaccinate each horse. No needles are necessary to administer the vaccine. This vaccine is not intended for intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. For primary immunization, a single dose is required in horses 11 months of age or older. Horses vaccinated at less than 11 months of age should be given a dose of the vaccine at age 11 months. Revaccination every six months is recommended. Horses at high risk of exposure may benefit from revaccination every three months. COMPOSITION: This vaccine is a lyophilized preparation containing an attenuated, cold adapted, viable A equine-2 influenza virus. Contains no preservatives. INDICATIONS: For the vaccination of healthy horses, 11 months of age or older, as an aid in the reduction of clinical disease and viral shedding caused by equine influenza viruses of both the American and Eurasian lineages. PRECAUTIONS: Keep refrigerated at a temperature between 35° and 45°F (2 - 7° C). Store out of direct sunlight. Use the entire contents of the vaccine after reconstitution. Do not vaccinate pregnant animals. Burn containers after use. In rare instances, reactions may occur due to unusual sensitivity following the administration of vaccines. In such cases, administer epinephrine as an antidote. We recommend that the vaccine be administered by a veterinarian or a trained technician. A small number of horses may experience mild post-vaccination side effects including slight nasal discharge. These signs should clear in a few days without additional treatment. Dosage and Administration: Administer a single one (1.0) mL dose intranasally in one (1) nostril. Single Dose Vial: Step 1: Securely attach a nasal applicator to a 3-cc luer lock syringe. Step 2: Remove the cap and rubber stopper from one vial of diluent and one vial of vaccine. Step 3: Using the nasal applicator with the attached syringe, draw 1 mL of the sterile diluent into the nasal applicator. The applicator should be nearly full, no diluent should be drawn into the syringe. Transfer the sterile diluent to the lyophilized vaccine vial. Step 4: Mix the vaccine and diluent in the vial with a gentle swirling motion. Once dissolved, immediately withdraw the full amount of rehydrated vaccine into the nasal applicator. Take caution to do draw vaccine into the syringe. Step 5: Place the full length of the applicator into the nasal passage. The syringe should still be in full view outside the nostril. Once in place, depress the plunger to administer the vaccine ov
