At times it is needed

posted 5 years ago

Before last evening I never would have considered such a tool but with our blind girl the farrier just could not do her feet. So in came the twitch. It wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be and she stood still instantly. I would not however EVER use the chain version as that I one I truly beleive would be painful. There is a time and a place that a twitch may be needed but it a tool that should not be used regularly or inappropriately.....

Pros: does calm the horse

Cons: can make them leary

Works well if used correctly

posted 5 years ago

As long as used correctly, a twitch can be an amazing tool. It releases endorphines, making it an more enjoyable "feel good" experience, if used correctly. It is NOT supposed to be painful and that's where a lot of problems originate.

Pros: Can work wonders

Cons: Can be used wrong easily

Use only when absolutely necessary

posted 5 years ago

I am not a fan of twitches, but every once in a while you have no choice with a difficult horse. In 10 years, we've probably only needed to use one 3 or 4 times.

Pros: Calms a difficult horse down to administer shots, etc.

Cons: Not enjoyable for the horses

A must for horse people

posted 6 years ago

This is a great, sturdy twitch. You can also just tie a piece of bailing twin with a snap on the end to use as a twitch also....much cheaper.

Pros: Great for helping when doing jobs the horse doesnt like

Cons: This twitch is a bit large

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
