Ugard helps prevent ulcers -- -and they're everywhere
posted 5 years ago
Many many horses have ulcers, but Ugard and similar products can minimize them. Horses with ulcers can have soft stools, trouble gaining weight, teeth grinding, or coat problems. Sometimes they act funny and fussy while eating. Inside, they're hurting!
Gastric Ulcers are more common in horses than you'd think. Some studies have found that the majority have them. Think about it: their stomachs are designed to graze all day, constantly digesting. They've got acid production perfected. One study suggests that cribbing might be a way to relieve gastric distress, by swallowing saliva.
Please take a "wake up call" from someone who's been through undiagnosed ulcers in her horse. I had to use expensive prescription treatment. You can prevent with Ugard and similar products.
Pros: affordable ulcer prevention
Cons: palatable, but nicer if you blend with tasty food
