Equi Casts Work!
posted 4 years ago
We had a rescue mare come in that was foundered. After treating her for a long time she took a turn for the worse. Breeze could not get up at all. Our vet said that if she didn't get up within a certain amount of time, we should consider putting her to sleep. Once I forced her to her feet, after many attempts my heart broke as she could not move. We called a different farrier (Glace Rider) to come see Breeze. Glace suggested Equi Casts and explained everything to me. I trust Glace so I told him it was his call. It was AMAZING (videos of Breeze are posted) to see how much better she walked just after the casts were put on. We kept them on for about 8 weeks I believe and Breeze is now (so far, knock wood) sound and able to enjoying her freedom in a bigger pasture :)

Pros: The worked!
Cons: Hard to get off

Great product
posted 4 years ago
I can not say enough about people throwing glass bottle across the fence and having a horse step on one. We had a large horse get an abcess and it kept the wound clean and packed so it would heal nicely.
Great product.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: having to use it

It's actually called Equicast but either way it works well
posted 4 years ago
You can watch a video of my dad working on Vixen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu4waB3Td_g Several people recommended that the mare be put down but they were able to save her. She's now doing very well

Equicast - non-invasive support/protection for hooves
posted 4 years ago
I think this product is one of the best "new" resources for hoof help. I think it provides non-invasive, support, but allows flexibility of the hoof and some exchange of air/water. kat
Pros: fairly easy to apply; non-invasive; non-permanent; porous
Cons: a little pricey for me, but worth it...may trap a bit of moisture...
