Not all horses need to be vaccinated for Strangles, but if you board or show your horse, it's in your best interest to have him innoculated for Strangles. Strangles is highly contagious. Horses between 1 and 5 are generally the most susceptible. It's generally not fatal, but it can be. Though horse-to-horse contact is generally how this disease is spread, it can also be spread through contaminated equipment.

According to my vet and some research, you should use this for younger horses that are more susceptible to Strangles and also for horses that come in contact with other horses. Since I go on several trail rides a year with horses that I don't know, I don't take a chance and vaccinate my horses. It's better to be safe than sorry.
