Good pain reliever

posted 5 years ago

We always keep 'bute' on hand for our horses. This generally can be given for any small wound or injury that causes discomfort. It is a prescription drug, so should be used as such. We consult with our vet if we have questions about it's effectiveness for a particular issue or injury. This should not be given on a long term basis without consulting your vet. Also, dosage can depend upon the weight of your horse. Very effective for minor discomfort.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Can cause stomch upset

Asprin for horses

posted 6 years ago

I exercise rode an older horse, and I had to give her Bute. I would give her two pills on any day that she seemed especially stiff, and it worked pretty well. It was kind of hard to give her the pills because she was a 16.2 hand percheron, and I had to hold her head up to make sure she swallowed them. She would move much better the day after I administered the Bute.

Pros: Bute helps horses with arthritis or other similar problems. It is relatively easy to give, and it works pretty well.

Cons: Some horses don't like taking pills, so it can be really hard to give.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
