Incredible Healing Ointment

posted 5 years ago

I had a young mare, Mystic, who was attacked by a small mountain lion. Mystic is a Paint, and the leg that was bitten looked just like a spotted fawn's rump. When the lion realized he had something bigger than expected, he pulled back, and in so doing bit a huge piece out of her rear leg under her hock. When I found Mystic, she had a bite that looked like a Great White Shark had taken a bite out of her. It went down to the casing of the tendons, but did not affect them, surprisingly. There was only about 5 inches of skin, on the front of her leg, that kept the injury from being across 100% of the leg, and going from fetlock to hock. It took over 9 months to heal the leg. We had to wash it, coat it with Nolvason, at the vet's suggestion, put a diaper on her leg for a bandage, wrap it with cellophane, vet wrap and a pressure bandage to get the results we finally achieved. Amazingly, Mystic recovered and could be ridden again. Unfortunately, she didn't like me much after all the trauma of the leg's care. We placed her in another home, where she is happy and healthy. I attribute the clean healing of this horrible wound to Nolvason Ointment, and TLC...even if Mystic didn't like it!

Pros: Very effective wound care ointment

Cons: none

Great cream for wounds!

posted 5 years ago

This is what my aunt uses for the horses when they are injured. It is a bit costly but highly effective. When we use this on the horses it must not hurt them as we have never had anyone shy away from us putting it on their wounds. We get horses into the rescue that are sometimes injured or have some sort of weird leg infections going on. This stuff works great for treating those wounds and infections.

I would highly recommend this product. I have actually used it on Emily and Wilbur, my pot bellied pigs, as well!

Pros: HELPS PROMOTE HEALING, THICK COVERAGE!

Cons: NONE

Good stuff

posted 5 years ago

I use this the most out of any first aid item. Good to use on scratches on legs under bandages and will not hurt the skin or blister. Is not as strong as some other ointments. Love the froot loop smell too!

Pros: Good ointment to use on legs, on wounds, under bandages.

Cons: None

Love it!

posted 5 years ago

Everyone should have this product in their pets medicine cabinet! It's great for cuts, scrapes and dry skin patches. My vet advised me to use nolvasan on my gelding who had some sort of infection in his sheath. It worked great and did not irritate this sensitive area. I always have some on hand.

Pros: safe to use in sensitive areas

Cons: sometimes causes a cut to be to moist
