Big and strong
posted 6 years ago
It wasn't easy finding a halter for my heavy draft, Weaver seems to be the only company that carries one to fit a horse measuring 60" from corner of lip, around the ears and back to corner of lip without getting a custom shop to make it. It is incredibly heavy leather 1-1/4", double ply and stitched well. With neats foot oil the leather stays supple and stretches a bit more (a plus with the bigger guys).
It's a solid product, perfectly crafted and designed with the draft horse in mind. And as a nice side, Weaver doesn't price gouge and take advantage of the smaller market, the bump up in price is marginal when compared to their regular draft horse halters let alone the regualr horse tack. My heavy draft leather halter cost a comparable mark-up more than the ones for my quarter horses. When you consider it takes twice the material, it only makes sense to be twice the cost.
Pros: break-away snaps, heavy leather, heavy stitching
Cons: special order

Great halter for Mark

Weaver makes a wonderful draft horse halter. It is adjustable and fits well. The leather is soft and durable. I just condition it occasionally and it is like new again.
Pros: adjustable, great fit, affordable,
Cons: none to note
