Dura-Pet working well to slow down my Weimaraners eating
posted 5 years ago
I purchased this product for my Weimaraner who gulps his food. He doesn't chew and it just goes in way to fast. At first, this bowl seemed to help only a little, as Luke would just push the food around and eat as quickly as he could still. About a month has gone by now and I'm seeing continued improvement. When at first I didn't see the huge results I'd expected, I was temped to return the bowl, as it was a bit spendy (particularly as I bought it at an upper-end pet "boutique"), but I'm really glad I kept at it.
Gulping food can cause bloat in dogs prone to this condition. Luke is a rescue, and has many medical conditions; bloat was one I couldn't afford to add to the list; particulary as it's preventable.
I'm very curious if anyone has tried both this produce and the Brake-Fast Bowl. The Brake-Fast is about the same price and seems to have the same concept but with more "humps" in the bowl, which seems as though it may slow the dog down even more. It's plastic though, and now as attractive. It also seems like it may be harder to clean. As I place a big dollop of plain yogurt in my dogs bowls before the food, easily cleaning the bowl is important to me.
Pros: Non-skid bottom, nice quality stainless steel, cleans easily
