The Roma Open Front boots are a great pair of boots for schooling or competing. They have lasted me a long time and still look great. For their price I they are one of the best buys for open fronts. They also still look good and professional to show in. They dont have fleece or anything super soft but def work (and then you can just hose them off!)
Pros: Hold up well and inexpensive
Cons: No Fleece

I am a big advocate of putting galloping boots on my horse. Whether or not they are open front is neither here nor there. The important thing is to provide stability to the splints (especially for ex-races turned jumpers) and to protect the fetlock from clipping (especially if your horse wears hind shoes.
Pros: Protects the fetlock, supports splints
Cons: can be restrictive
