I just love these blankets!

posted 5 years ago

Although they can be pricey (I watch for them on sale or on ebay), the weatherbeetas are well worth every cent!
Out of our 23 horses, only one has ever managed to find a way to put a hole (small tear) in one of these. And really, it wasn't her fault. Nor the blanket's. I believe without the blanket taking the tear, it would have been her skin and several stitches instead.
I haven't even needed to patch or restitch any - other than the one that got torn by a piece of steel (above). Even the webbings and buckles hold up beautifully!
We live where there is a lot of VERY cold, lots of snow and wind and rain.
And mud. Of course.
The blankets are all holding well into their 3rd winter, get cleaned thoroughly in summer, waterproofed again for winter, then stored until needed. Only one horse has ever gotten blanket rubs - and those were because we got the blanket when he came in (underweight) and he gained his appropriate weight - but we didn't switch to a larger size soon enough. Once done, no more rubs! So I don't blame that on the blanket styling.
I can't think of a better investment if blankets are your thing.
Spend the money!

Pros: well fit, take a beating!

Cons: price sometimes

Warm & dry !!!!!!!!

posted 5 years ago

Over-all love the blankets that we have purchased. We have the light rain sheet & the medium weight. Both do their job !! We have older horses so, we need the blanket to really protect these horses. They have run-in stalls & paddock but they are out in the elements (which is where they prefer!).

I also like the reflective marks on the blankets. Wish there were more "marks". IF the horses ever got loose the head lights would pick up the horses for ALL to see!!

Pros: Keeps horse dry. Skin & hair kept toasty!

Cons: MORE reflective "marks" on blankets

Sturdy & Waterproof

posted 5 years ago

I have both the heavyweight blanket and the lightweight sheet. The heavy blanket stays put, has stood up to rough paddock mates and keeps my guy dry, plus it's the only blanket he has to wear even in the coldest weather.

The lightweight sheet has all the same good qualities without the insulation.

Pros: Very tough and keeps horses dry

Cons: none

This is a great quality blanket! I t has held up very well over the years. It field washes very easliy. the velcro plus straps at the chest are great. It is very water proof. My horse doesn't wear it daily, but when I need it on the cold Iowa nights, I'm thankful for it and so is my old Arab!

Pros: great blanket

Cons: can't think of any

Great Blanket

posted 5 years ago

We use this blanket when we go camping with our horses because they do not have shelter, just small corrals. These have held up well - 2 seasons so far. They REALLY are waterproof! The fit is good -measure to be sure. We waited & got them on sale in the spring.

Pros: Waterproof

Cons: Pricey
