Just like humans fish do not all feed the same. This is a great way to ensure your cichlids that prefer to feed from the bottom also get all the food and nutirents they need.

I always fed a combination of flake and pellets to make certain everyone had food.

But just like any food you need to be carefull to not overfeed, providing just the right amount of pellets is essential not only for feeding but maintaining the water quality so start slowly, watch the fish and make sure you do not overfeed.

Overfeeding is not healthy for the fish and can cause water changes that not only cloud the tank but become unhealthy for the fish
