If you live in a northern tier state and have a horse or other stock, you've got to have a water tank de-icer. I used an earlier model Farm Innovators, and my neighbor has one like in this picture. It is comforting to know that on those nights when the temperature really drops, your horse can drink eat AND drink to help stay warm.

Pros: Keeps some water in liquid state no matter how cold

This is nothing more than a lifesaver. A horse that won't drink because the water is frozen is a horse that is very likely to colic. This De-Icer keeps the water a constant drinkable temperature. No more chipping out chunks of ice or adding hot water.

This heater has outlasted two others over 11 years. Only problem is the guard rusted off after about 5 years but the rest is still going strong. Necessary to keep the pond from freezing over and allowing for gasses to escape.

I love this little donut de Icer. We use them at the farm in the big water tanks. It works great.
