Great for the small fish in your tank!

posted 5 years ago

My fish readily accepted these pellets when I switched them over from the Tetramin Tropical Granules. These are smaller than the granules and easier for the small fish to eat. I feed larger sized foods for my bigger tetras in the tank and once they are done eating, I feed the Hikari Micro Pellets to my cherry barbs and von rio tetras.

Pros: Small enough pieces for those little fish

Cons: A little pricey compared to other foods

I Like the Hikari So Don't Mind Spending A Little More

posted 5 years ago

This is actually one of my favorite fish foods, and I think my fish--past and present--feel the same way. While I can't say I've done an extensive, long-term search, I can say that of all the times I was looking for fish food, this brand was the only one that I saw with the micro pellets.

I don't like the pouch-like packaging because you have to reach into the pouch to take a pinch out and then try to reseal it without scattering the food. It would be nice if the food were packaged in a small plastic tube with a small slit on top to tap out a few pellets without having to touch it.

It would also be nice if there were a smaller size. Tiny fish (especially if you only have one or two) take forever to make a dent in the package!

Pros: The "MICRO" pellets--a near-necessity for tiny fish

Cons: Don't like the packaging style; Sometimes Hard to Find in Stores
