Aquari-sol

I LOVE this product. I started using it (in conjunction with temporary quarantine) as a precaution every time I get new fish and I haven't had to deal with an ick "outbreak" in any community tank in at least a decade. I will also occasionally use it as a net dip when dealing with a number of fish with questionable health.

Now for my con. I said it may not be strong enough for a big outbreak. The last couple of times I had a serious case of ick I ultimately had to switch to something else. I don't know whether I was dealing with a particular resistance to Aquari-Sol or it if the other medication(s) were stronger. I tend to think the latter because I've also found that I can use Aquari-Sol on many fish that can't handle other medications. I've used it on loaches and 'sharks' with no problems. In mixed community tanks where the entire tank seems to be acting off or I suspect I may have accidentally introduced something I can get away with giving 1 1/2 the dose of this for a few days and not hurt any of the population. Once I started this I haven't had to move on to anything that may be harsher and I almost never lose fish to illness of any kind. So, ultimately, I like this product just the way it is.

Pros: great preventive

Cons: may not be strong enough for big outbreak?
