I have always used these filters. We have one to help keep our turtle tank clean, and to give her a form of running water as entertainment. The filter is not annoyingly loud, it is just enough to give the feel of being relaxing. The cost of replacing the filters is a little high, and they do have to be changed at least once a month with our turtle. The only annoyance is the fact that you have to unplug the filter when feeding. The filter sucks up the food before it is eaten, and it gets the filter dirty too quickly. It would be nice to have some sort of button on the filter itself to be able to shut the system off while feeding, but it is an effective filtering system.

This is a great filter all around. You can hang it from the top of the tank, or use the suction cups to put is lower in the tank like we do for our turtles habitat. The waterfall like sound is quite and soothing. It keeps our tank sparkling clean.
