It's What's Inside That Counts The virtually silent submerged motor gives you power filter performance inside your aquarium. Filter pulls water from the tank and pushes it up through the filter cartridge. Dense mesh catches debris and waste. Ultra-activated carbon absorbs odors and discoloration. Bio-foam cultivates aerobic bacteria, which eliminates toxic ammonia and nitrites before water cascades back into aquarium. As Versatile As It Is Powerful The Whisper In-tank Filter works in as little as two inches of water, making it ideal for low water level environments like viquariums for turtles, newts, or frogs. Working Hard Behind the Scenes Install the Whisper In-tank Filter on the back wall of your tank. Unlike conventional filters, its small size makes it easy to hide with a plant or other decorative object. From the front, it's practically invisible. The Strong Silent Type Full two year warranty. Same quality and performance of an external power filter. Designed to be discrete for a clear view of your aquarium. Space saving--aquarium can be flush to wall. Powerful submerged motor has hardly any sound. Clean, clear water from efficient three-stage filtration. Three Filters in One The Whisper In-tank Filter adjust easily to high or low water levels with mounting suction cups and/or brackets. Mechanical Filter The Bio-Bag uses dual-sided mesh to catch debris and waste. Chemical Filter Ultra-activated carbon removes odors and discoloration better than competing cartridges. Biological Filter Bio-foam creates a large, three-dimensional site for cultivating aerobic bacteria, which eliminates toxic ammonia and nitrites.

Not a good solution for tropical fish aquariums

posted 5 years ago

I used the Whisper Internal Power Filter 10i in two separate aquariums and was not pleased with the results.

First, the product description is misleading. Carbon is not a good all-around filter medium. It's better used in situations where you are trying to remove discolorations from the water (like when added driftwood may be releasing tannins into your tank). You couldn't use this filter in a quarantine tank, should the need arise, simply because carbon and tropical fish medications don't mix. There are better mediums out there.

(This is an excellent article covering the advantages and disadvantages of carbon as an aquarium filter medium--http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article71.html)

Carbon is also a better medium for less intense water flows, something this filter doesn't provide. I found the rate of water flow to be a little too harsh. I was able to fix this by blocking the output lip with a Bio-Chem star, but this was still a bit disruptive.

This filter clogged very quickly with. I think it has to do with how close the intake is to the motor. Perhaps if the intake was designed in a way that it could be covered to prevent it from taking in so much debris, it would be better suited.

It seemed like I needed to replace the filter cartridges too often as well.

Overall, I was very disappointed with this filter. For the same price, I was able to purchase a sponge filter which did a much better job, and could be used in different tank situations (quarantine, fry, etc.).

Pros: Quiet

Cons: Clogged easily, too much water flow

Use in The Betta babies tank

posted 5 years ago

I've used this filter when I've bred Betta's and other babies. It's pretty quiet and safe, and it doesn't have the overpowering water flow as some filters will have.
It definitely served it's purpose, but it's not a filter that I use regularly in any of my tanks,as it's meant for smaller tanks.

Pros: wan't to strong for the babies low cost easy to find

Cons: not enough power for a bigger tank
