I have assembly on my current filter system and have not had any problems what so ever. Nice even distribution of suction makes it easy for fish to swim next to it without being pulled into it. Also this helps catch more debris. Easy to assemble and use, but if it ever needs cleaned it is hard to clean the "elbow" unless you use a bottle brush that is easy to bend.
