Many of my fish tanks house one size Emperor or another.No matter what size you get,the strainer is made the same way,to perform and do it's job.
This is one of my favorite filters because of the strainer.I don't have to worry of even the smallest of my fishes getting sucked up into the filter.I also keep a couple different types of snails which with any other strainer,they'd be dead and sitting up inside the filter box itself.
Large debri is also an issue as it can enter into the strainer and cause a clog or back up into your actual fish tank.With the way this is made,the grooves are close enough as to where that just won't happen
These parts are reasonably priced.I tend to pick them up At Big Al's online,as usually they seem to have the best prices.Some of the bigger LFS"may also carry these parts too.

We have the emperor 400 on our tank. The strainer works well and is easy to remove and clean.
