I wouldn't think there is a filter on the market that doesn't have a cover. I wouldn't be without this. It helps keep the water from splashing out. Keeps any and all debris from getting into the filters and clogging them or in the tank itself. the lid lifts off easily and goes back into place without difficulty. The only downside I have with this is that the calcium builds uop and it's difficult to get off and you need to be careful so that it doesn't crack. Did I mention it keeps Putty Cat from exploring it!?

I would not have a large fish tank without one of these. It's just another safety precaution from other pets or kids. It also muffles the sound that comes from the fish tank and keeps the splashes at a minimum.

Pros: It muffles the sound of your tank having this on! Keeps the water in the tank! Safe to have with kids!

Does a great job of doing what I needed it to do. Had trouble with the little guys before this!
