Doesn't get rid of existing algae

It works well to prevent algae from growing, but if you already have algae growing, it does not make that go away. You have to clean it off first, then use this product to prevent future growth.
Pros: Good to control future growth
Cons: Doesn't kill algae already there

Not very effective unless you solve the problem that started the algea bloom. Cover the tank and leave lights off for a few days, will kill off most algea.
