I would recommend buying a better product. This left a large amount of Algae in my tank

They look like bits of plaster but they seem to have food in them. I don't know how good it is or how the fish know when to look for it but at least the fish survive while you travel. The battery operated timed release ones are probably a better option since you can feed the same food as usual and they hear it so they know to eat.

perhaps it is my water composition, but these will not dissolve in my tank. my pump runs, my temp is @ 76, but product lies on the bottom for a week w/out dissolving.

NOe of my fish will eat this and it just sits in the bottom of the fish bowl.

Cons: fish don't like it

I have used these before and they work pretty well none of my fish died while i was gone. They are a little expensive I thought.
