Longshot, like all of the Dick Francis mysteries, is very well researched. Mr. Francis is a champion - not only as a jockey - but as a writer. He brings the world of horses vividly to life so that even non-horse lovers can appreciate their beauty and fascination. In this book he also delves into survivalism and the life of a writer, and gives them the same devotion to realistic detail. I would highly recommend any and all of the Dick Francis books - he never disappoints.

Growing up in a horse racing town, I have always gravitated to any books that have racing interspersed in he story line. All of Dick Frances' books are full of suspense set amid racing folk and events - giving insight into a world unfamiliar to many. This book was one of my favorites in the series.

dick francis is one of my favorite writers about horses and this one did not dissapint. every year when the kentucky derby comes around i reread one of his books about racing. great book and wonderful for adults and children alike
