Kong Ziggies

Editor's Review
Ziggies dog treats are fun, imaginative rewards.
July 1, 2010 1:46 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
Ziggies Stuff'N by Kong are a fun and rewarding toy for your dog to use in conjunction with the well-known Kong rubber toys. The way these treats work is convenient and simple. Fit the candy bar-sized treat inside the Kong Wobbler and then sit back and watch as your dog playfully tries to squeeze it out and get to the treat inside.
When I’ve used these toys in conjunction with each other, my dog derives an endless amount of pleasure from pushing the Kong Wobbler around the floor until more and more of the treat becomes accessible to him. The treat itself is made primarily from chicken meal and preservatives and looks like a small cigar - which is probably the inspiration for the name Ziggies. But don’t assume that you're providing a nutritious treat for your dog. With this contraption, the point is to have fun.
As another benefit, the treat stands up nicely to heavy chewing but is also safely digestible. Once your dog has had a good time chewing on Ziggies and softening them up, he can easily swallow the treat without any concern of later digestive problems.
I’ve always been impressed with the amount of imagination that goes into Kong’s toys and chews. And I’m even more impressed having tried the Ziggies with the Kong Wobbler. Kong is one of the few companies working hard to figure out what makes dogs tick, and the toys they design reflect this commitment. The one downside, as always, is the preservatives used in the making of the treat, which I view as unnecessary. That said, your dog is going to have a blast.
Pros: Entertains dogs for extended playtime.
Cons: Treats are not completely nutritious.

Nice treats

I wanted to get them some things for their kong toys, as they won't play with the kongs if they don't have anything in them. And these fit into the kongs easily, and my dogs really seem to enjoy them.
Pros: great to keep them occupied
Cons: can be pricey

Good stuff

I prefer hard treats to using peanut butter or the filling out of the spray can. These come in different sizes for different size dogs and kongs. It did take Eboni a while to get this out of her kong and then a couple more minutes to eat it, so it kept her occuppied. If your dog is a chewer, this is something I would recommend to keep him interested in his kong. I wouldn't use this for training; strictly for keeping the dog busy for a little while.
Pros: Eboni likes these; they don't mess up the kong like peanut butter or the filling from the spray can
Cons: none
