Cesar Softies combine a meaty flavor with a rich texture dogs love.

October 8, 2010 6:47 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

Cesar Softies are a new line of treats that combine a savory steak flavor with a soft, tempting texture that our tester dog found delicious. And at only 7 calories per treat, this product is perfect for rewarding your dog guilt-free during a training session or on a walk.

The treats make no claims to being all-natural, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find the usual candidates of preservatives, artificial flavors and artificial coloring in the list of ingredients, such as glycol, potassium chloride, and propionate. The good news is that dogs don’t seem to mind. Our tester pooch found Cesar’s treats irresistible and was begging for more almost immediately.

Personally, with new and exciting natural ingredients being used in dog food every day, I see no reason for dog food brands to continue offering products that are chock full of non-natural elements. That said, Cesar Treats are no worse than a host of other big brands. Canines love Cesar’s treats and the main ingredient, filet mignon, will keep them coming back for more — along with the rich, meaty flavor.

Pros: Dogs will find the taste irresistible.

Cons: Not entirely preservative-free.
