Healthy Bones combines ideal nutrition with a competitive price.

August 17, 2010 5:55 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

Healthy Bones Dog Treats, by Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance, are dry dog treats in the shape of a bone filled with delicious and nutritious ingredients that your dog will love. The treat’s unique combination of antioxidants, protein and carbohydrates make it a triple-whammy for your dog’s health, containing ingredients to improve the luster of his coat, his dental health and his immune system.

Dick Van Patten’s ingredients have been known to raise eyebrows with dog owners so let’s break them down one by one and look at what each one of them has to offer your pooch. First up, oatmeal. Oatmeal? For a dog, really? Yes, really. In addition to being a great source of fiber that promotes colon health, oatmeal is also high in protein and a source of carbohydrates, thiamin and vitamin E. Cranberries, another uncommon ingredient in Healthy Bones, contain a high dose of the antioxidant proanthocyanids, a particularly helpful aide for your dog’s urinary system. And last of all, turkey. Turkey is seldom used in dog food and I, for one, can’t understand why. The meat is a great source of natural protein and contains far less fat than beef and chicken.

While these strange ingredients have not exactly caught on like wildfire in other dog foods, look for them to do so shortly as prices drop and treats like Healthy Bones become more and more popular because of their innovative approach.

If you’re looking for an all-natural, nutritious and delicious, preservative free way to treat your dog, look no further, Healthy Bones Dog Treats are the answer and at only $12.99 for a bag that will last you a month, they are quite competitively priced.

Pros: Reasonably priced, healthy ingredients tailored to canine nutritional needs.

Cons: None.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
