Blue Bites Natural Soft-Moist Dog Treats are a healthy, convenient option for rewarding your dog.
May 12, 2011 12:21 pm | By Zootoo Editor AmyLi
The square-shaped Blue Buffalo Blue Bites Natural Soft, Moist Dog Treats, a little bigger than a quarter, were a near instant hit and continue to remain a favorite. We tried out the “tasty chicken” flavor, which lists deboned chicken, whole ground brown rice, oatmeal, maple syrup and vegetable glycerin as its first ingredients.
Having deboned chicken – or any other kind of meat, not animal by-product – at the top of an ingredient list is always a good indicator, I think, for both the health effects the treat or food product could have on your pet and also for how well your pet will respond to the treat.
The treats, which are noticeably moist and tend to dry up over the span of a few weeks if you don’t make sure the Ziploc bag is always sealed shut, have no animal byproducts, corn, wheat, soy, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. The meat seems to be what really shines in these treats, and the combination of the supporting ingredients, including flaxseed, blueberries and vitamins, should pump your dog chock full of important vitamins to support its immune system.
There wasn’t any hesitation upon the first taste-test of these treats, and very quickly, our tester dog recognized the bag and greeted their presence with a very enthusiastic wag of the tail and lick of the chops. Their price ranges from $6 to $10, depending on where you buy it, and can be found in all major pet stores.
Pros: Apparently delicious, clearly healthy treats that are shaped in a convenient, bite-size form.
Cons: Approx. 20-30 treats in each bag – not a lot for the price.
