I stuck with the petsafe brand because we use the transmitter unit to keep our dog within our yard already. Because he was familiar with the tone I wanted to stay with the same brand. Even though this trainer is for "little dogs" we got it for Boscoe because it was low profile and all we really wanted it for was the tone anyway. It has worked great. I am able to take him for walks now. He was never good on a leash because he assumed he should pull me around. Now the kids can even take him around the neighborhood and he has more freedom then ever before. So glad I got this!
