Rating: 4.0

Average rating from 4 reviews.

(4.0 out of 5, based on 4 reviews)

PetSafe In-Ground Radio Fence Kit works by sending a radio signal from the fence transmitter through up to 854m (2800-ft) of boundrary wire. The boundary wire is buried or attached to a fixed object to enclose the pet area. Your pet wears a receiver collar with contact points that touch his neck, and, once tained is allowed to roam freely in the pet area.

Works great for my small dog

posted 6 years ago

Great way to keep our small dog safe. We did carefully follow the training steps, and it continues to work very effectively for our small dog. He has only been "zapped" by it a time or two... since we invested plenty of time into training, I think that helped him learn his boundaries and realize that the "beep" is his warning.

Chewbacca safely rules within his boundaries of his one-acre yard... safe from the busy street nearby.

This system actually worked so well that we found that we can take our dog to someone else's house that has the same type of system... we put up a few flags to mark the boundary, and walk him around on a leash with the collar in hand so he can also hear where the boundary is. (we do this so he doesn't get shocked accidentally) but he learns quickly and will be safe with any equipped yard.

Pros: has worked well for multiple years

Cons: takes some time to install - and must invest time for training

Petsafe In-Ground Electric Dog Fence

posted 6 years ago

Most of the time our dog stays in the yard. Once in a while she runs out after a squirrel or rabbit. We do have trouble sometime with the underground wire. I has come apart (maybe from underground rodents?) we are not sure. It is hard to find out where the break in the line.

Pros: Keeps dog in our yard

Cons: Sometimes runs through the fence
