I bought this right after we built the fence for my dog. The way the house is set up, I couldn't see him at any door or window to know when he wanted to come inside. I got this to train him to step on the paw when he wanted to come inside. The only problem is the paw can't get wet so leaving it outside is hard. I tried putting it in a plastic bag but somehow it got wet and stopped working. I would only use this to train your dog to let you know when he wants out.

I have a friend that uses this for her dog and swears by it. I probably will give it a try as my dog does the same action, (the keeshond circle) weather he needs to go out, wants water, wants fed or just wants to play. Hopefully we can train using this .

This would be perfect for Piper, she isn't let outside by herself, but could let us know when she needs to go out!! She is very smart, so I think that training her to use it would not be a problem. She will whine at night, but it is confusing for us to know if she wants in bed with us or needs to go out, this would solve the problem because she could ring her "doorbell" and we would then know that she needed to go out and not cuddle with us!!

Pros: your pet can let you know if it needs in or out

Cons: could stop working if wet
