We bought this for our very resilient chihuahua, he weights about 12 pounds. He is smart, and thinks he's a person. We've tried a million things to get him off the couches (plus he decided a spot next to the couch would be great for potty time), and out of the baby's room, but he's hard at hearing. We were also sick and tired of him getting into the trash can, and making himself sick, and making a mess.

This works by setting the receiver where ever you want it, assume it's the baby's room. We put it on the doorway, down on the floor cause my dog is small. We set it at 3 bars which is about 6 feet or so. This beeps before the shock, and then it shocks a little bit, then it increases if the animal doesn't move away. It will turn off after a few seconds, so the animal won't be hurt. Now as soon as my dog hears the beep he goes the oposite way, unfortunately he learned the hard way. We had him on a leash when introducing him to the whole system, to teach make sure he was ok. Once he figure out what happens, he now reacts to the beep and doesn't need the shock.

You can set distance levels on this, between 2-12 feet I believe.

It's not supposed to be used on cats, and if your dog is really smart, it may be able to get around it. So you have to figure out a way to be able to get the whole area covered.

Pros: Works really well, dog will listen
