My Leash of Choice
posted 5 years ago
We bought a 20' Aspen training lead when our dog was being trained as a puppy. When it eventually wore out, I bought a second just for walking her. The length allows her to stay, heel or go exploring, according to my command and where we happen to be at the time.
Although we own short leather leashes and a retractable cord leash, the cotton training lead remains my leash of choice.
Suggestion for improvement:
I have owned several of these over the years and they have all worn out in the same place: from 6" to 10" below the hardware. This is the area that has the most stress. It is most likely to be dragged along the ground and through puddles, etc.
I would like to have the first 18" of the lead reinforced, either by the addition of a criss-cross nylon stitching or by dipping it in a flexible protective coating. My solution has been to cut off and discard the worn area and reattach the lead, but that is difficult work and it shortens the lead.
Pros: length and texture
Cons: durability

Love this leash
posted 5 years ago
I love this product! I use it to take my dogs outside when a 6 ft leash just won't do. One of my dogs isn't off a leash yet and this way she can run and have fun with enough room. It's great for training because it gives you plenty of room to walk away from the dog but yet you wont' be afraid the dog will take off.
Pros: Length is great
Cons: wears out

Essential for basic dog training!
posted 4 years ago
Every dog owner needs a training lead! It is essential for training "come!" Also, for first steps towards off leash training, after they are solid on leash that is! Much easier to catch a dog running away when they have a lead trailing behind them! Great insurance at the dog park too, reel them in fast!
Pros: MUST have for training the "come" command!
Cons: None

I bought this 25 foot training lead to use when teaching the dogs the invisible fencing system. It worked really well when the dog learned the borders and I needed to have him loose but needed something to get a hold of if they decided to cross the line. Works great for teaching "come" too.
Pros: sturdy
Cons: none

Great training tool.
posted 4 years ago
Love these leads and wish more owners would use them to actually train their pets to come when they call. Instead most people just get frustrated when their pet is off leash and won't come, and many of them punish the pet when they actually DO come back. Makes no sense!
Pros: Helps train dogs to respond to "come".
Cons: None.
