Hartz Dura Play Ball
(5 out of 5)
The Hartz Dura Play Ball is a terrific, tough squeak toy option.
July 21, 2011 3:45 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
The Dura Play Ball, by Hartz, is a natural latex dog toy that squeaks when pressure is applied to the center area. The aspect of the Dura Play Ball that makes this toy unique in the over-crowded world of dog squeaky toys is its use of the “Power Play Core,” a one-of-a-kind foam technology that enhances durability and increases the chewing sensation for dogs.
Ridges form concentric circles radiating out around the Power Play Core, providing dogs with excellent chewing stimulation and satisfying their natural instinct to chew. And the squeaking noise made by the Dura Play Ball has less raw decibel power than other, similar squeaking chews – making this winner a toy that I can recommend highly not just for Fido, but for Fido’s owner’s ears as well.
The only potential downside to the Hartz Dura Play Ball is its size – the toy is simply too small to engage most larger dogs, especially those that prefer wrapping giant jaws around their toys. But for smaller dogs, the Hartz Dura Play ball is one of the best squeak / chew options I have ever tested for moderate to strong chewers.
The challenge in this category is finding a chew toy that will keep your dog interested for more than an hour, but that can’t be shredded (my dog, like many, tends to get bored if he can’t rip something apart). However, the Hartz Dura Play Ball kept my dog completely absorbed for hours, without even the slightest hint of its tough exterior breaking down.
Pros: Lower decibel level than other squeak toys; stand up to tough chewing.
Cons: Not ideal for larger dogs.
