Works for teething puppies
posted 5 years ago
Complaing about my puppy teething, a friend offered me her Chilly bones. Having older dogs, hers did not like them so thought I could give them a whirl. I soaked it in water, placed in a ziplock and stuck them in the freezer. The next evening I pulled it out and the puppy chewed and chewed. The cold seamed to feel good to her. The other dogs were eyeing it so the other 2 came out of the freezer. Now that she is beyond that phase, she still likes to chew her Chilly bone from time to time. One of few teething products on the market, I think it really helped.
Pros: Coldness helps sooth teething pain
Cons: Waiting for it to freeze

Okay for some dogs.
posted 5 years ago
I got one of these for each of our dogs. There was four dogs at that time. Only one of them showed any interest in the Chilly Bone. I think that is because he was the only one who liked to really play with soft toys and did not like rawhide like bones. But if you give him something, then you had to give the others something and it was a pain.
So we gave them to a friend whose dog is teething and she loves them. So okay for some dogs, not for others.
Pros: easy to use, affordable
Cons: not for all dogs

NOT Worth it !!
posted 4 years ago
tried these once and that was enough for me
it was expensive, didn't interest pups for very long, didn't provide any real relief for teething discomfort, a little messy?, and is easily torn to expose the fluff inside!!
it is basically tight weave fabric over fuzzy stuffing and when you hold it in water it absorbs some
so you wet or soak it and toss it in the freezer
as it sits on the shelf before freezing it drips and the water pools so that when you remove it you'll have frozen mess if you don't let it drain a bit before freezing...this was mostly just another chew toy that was soon ripped to bits...i can understand the idea behind this product but it is certainly not worth the price...as an alternative to this product i found that a simple clean bit of heavier material like denim can be cut into a strip, knotted, and soaked in water then wrung out a bit and frozen this was more eagerly chomped on by the pups than this Chilly Bone...provide this alternative, provide plenty of fresh cool water maybe with some ice chips add a daily gum massage and a little tooth brushing and you'll get through teething without this product!!
Pros: chew toy
Cons: they really don't provide much relief to teethers and is easily destroyed

Just okay
posted 5 years ago
I got this as a gift for Dingles. He seemed to enjoy it after it thawed out some. It was easy to freeze .... just wet it, and put it in its freezer bag. I dont know about cleaning it because it didnt last long around here. Blackie the basset got ahold of it and had it torn up in a matter of seconds. I dont think I would get another one.
Pros: great concept, helps with teething and chewing
Cons: non durable
