Puppy's got a brand new toy
posted 5 years ago
I went looking for this and found it at my favorite pet store. I wanted this specifically for the puppy who is entering the obnoxious teen age part of her puppyhood and got her the aqua colored one. All the other pups wanted this of course and so I put her in her crate with it. She loved rolling it around and chewing on it. Usually my pups are not that thrilled with just chewing on rubber but she really went at it. She has managed to tear a tiny peice off around the top of the Leo. I put it up and got her something a little tougher to chew, but will be getting it back out again and stuffing it with food for mre fun. Funky shape and a lot of fun for her. The others played a little with it and enjoyed it as well so of course they had to have ones too These are not cheap toys, but are a good interactive toy that keeps the canine mind occupied and the puup out of trouble.
Pros: she likes it, take some aggressive chewing
Cons: not a cheap toy

Failed the Lab Test
posted 2 years ago
Our lab puppy has grown up with food dispensing toys and at eight months she knows exactly what to do. If there’s food inside she’ll pick it up and drop it or roll it and repeat this process until the contents are all inside her rather than in the toy. I bought the Canine Genius Leo and Mike plus the stinky IQ treats to keep her challenged and thought the way they can fit together was creative. Our puppy likes the stinky treats. She found that getting the treats out of Leo difficult so she used her own creative logic to remove the goodies. She chomped the entire Canine Genius into three pieces (within five minutes). She proceeded to do the same to Mike, but that was much easier. I consider her an aggressive chewer but not as bad as some. These were both, in my opinion, surprisingly flimsy for toys intended for mutts that chew. They’re expensive and I consider them a complete waste of money. We’ve had far better luck with other treat dispensing toys.
Pros: Encourages creative thought
Cons: Pieces easily chewed off

Great toy/tool
posted 4 years ago
We use the Leo for a couple purposes here.. and LOVE it. First - its a great way to feed your dog.. he has to think to get kibble out of it. Charlie is pretty masterful at it now, so to make it tougher, we add some bigger treats that are harder to get out. Even after the kibble is gone, the bigger treats pose a good brain challenge to keep him busy, longer.
Another great use is to stick chew toy into the Leo - like a nylabone. It gives the dog a great grip and makes chewing that much more fun. I added a photo of Charlie using the Leo this way.
It is made of durable rubber and is easy to clean by hand or dishwasher.
Pros: many uses, indestructible
Cons: can be loud

Not terribly durable
posted 4 years ago
I like the fact that you can put several of them together for a more difficult toy. I only own one but the idea is neat, as some dogs need more of a challenge. I usually give my dogs other treat dispensers over this one just because my dogs easily tore pieces off the top of the toy in attempt to chew the treats out of it.
Pros: modular- can buy several pieces and link them together for more of a challenge
Cons: relatively easy to chew to pieces

Great toy!
posted 4 years ago
This toy is super durable and is especially nice with teenage dogs who are teething! It takes them awhile to get to the treats and makes them work hard for it!
Pros: Keeps bored dogs busy!
Cons: None
