Booda Softies combine eye-catching colors with appealing squeaks.
October 22, 2010 6:02 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.
The Plushy Turtle, from Booda's line of Softies dog toys, is a small, eye-catching friend that your dog will relish chewing. The toy emits a high-pitched squeaking noise when squeezed - much to my dog's pleasure. And more importantly, the toy is made of soft, lightweight material in an appealing green and brown. But don't let the material's lightness fool you - I found the toy to be more durable than similar materials used in other brands of plushy dog toys.
When choosing a stuffed toy for my dog I usually have one question – how long will it last? My dog has a propensity for finding seams and tearing the stuffing out of stuffed animals, but with Booda’s Plushy Turtle, this wasn’t a problem at all. Booda seems to have cracked the code in creating plushy toys that dogs can’t devour. They have also created a chew product that will stimulate your dog's gums without breaking up into smaller pieces that he can swallow or choke on.
Booda has accomplished this much-needed improvement in plushy toys by making their products with shorter microfiber hairs that don’t become stringy and matted when wet. With other plushy toys, my dog quickly mats the fuzzy hairs into strands with his saliva. Then, he simply tugs on them until a seam rips, after which he loves to eat all the stuffing inside. With Plushy Turtle, he tried and tried to do this, but the strands were too short for him to get a purchase on. As a result, the toy kept him occupied for hours.
The only drawback to Plushy Turtle is a white tag that hangs off its belly with wash instructions. My dog was eventually able to split Plushy Turtle open by biting down and pulling on this white tag. But this problem can be easily solved by snipping off the tag with a pair of scissors before giving Plushy Turtle to your dog. Overall, this small problem is not a deal-breaker, and you can be confident that your dog will enjoy this plushy friend.
Pros: Dogs love the squeaks and the texture.
Cons: Power chewers may be able to split the toy apart at the seams.

Softies are cute, but not durable
posted 4 years ago
My little yorkie loves these toys. They are soft and small and he really likes to squeak them. Unfortunately they do not stand up to even the lightest of tugging. After a hour of play all three softies that were purchased for him were torn at the seams and had to be resewn. If you like to sew or have a dog that just likes to hold toys in their mouths these are for you, otherwise, look for another toy.
Pros: Cute little animals
Cons: Not durable at all
