We use these tags on all of our cats, and always have. They are very cheap, so they will fit well into your budget, and allow you to put contact information on the tag in case your cat gets lost. They are very durable as well, for I have never heard of one breaking, though all of our cats our indoor cats so I don't know how they hold up to the elements outside.

Cons: As plain as it gets, if style is your thing

I purchased a blue bone-shaped version of this tag because I could fit more info on it. My dog rolls around in the dirt and likes to play rough outside, and the tag has withstood everything she has dished out. The info is still clearly readable, and it hasn't become scratched or damaged in any way.
