Home Again ID tags need to be more durable
posted 4 years ago
For those who have their pet microchipped with the Home Again chip, the company furnishes the owner with a yellow plastic/rubber tag for the dog to wear. It lists the company phone number and the dog's ID number so if someone finds the pet, they can call and the owner can be found. Great idea, right? Yes, it is a great idea and the microchip itself is fantastic!!
But the tag is another story...it is a soft rubber-like material and the ID number is printed in black ink of some kind. There are two problems: 1) as you can see from the photo, the tag can be chewed up if the dog reaches down and grabs it or if you have more than one dog. This makes it completely useless. 2) the ID number fades/smears over time and becomes difficult to read. It is worth the extra money to buy yourself a decent metal or hard plastic tag with the material on it.
Pros: great idea
Cons: numbers fade; can be chewed up and made useless!
