Not all pet owners can afford the specialty designs for their pets. And sometimes our little buddies need more than just a fashion statement. When our elderly dog, Willie, wasn't able to tolerate the cold, I wanted to find him a sweater that would keep his upper body warm, allow him to relieve himself, and not cost a lot of money. The fashionable outfits I found weren't quite what I wanted and the heavier fleece/knit sweaters were too warm for inside use. So I came up with a different idea. First, I measured the width of his shoulders. Then I went to the childrens' section at a local discount store and found Toddler's size pull-over sweatshirts that matched the width of Willie's shoulders. Using a pinking shears, I cut open the front of the sweatshirts, making them into jackets. The sleeves happened to fit Willie's front legs just right. The jackets laid across his back and sides to keep him warm. The opening allowed him to do his business unimpeded. This was a workable solution to my objective.

So when I am in Carmel or Marin County, I go to the goodwills and thrift shops and ask for pet clothes. Almost always there is a good stash of stuff. My kids have small, medium. and large dogs so someone always scores...

When the little daschunds shiver and they always do, these sweaters are just what they need to keep them warm. I hate to see someone out with their pet and it is shivering. Just put a sweater on it.

I liked the fact that it was easy to get on the dog, but the dog was also able to get the sweater off easily (my dog is a hudini) so not all dogs may be like that. otherwise works good.

My dog Cleo is large but has a slight build. Cleo gets cold quickly even in moderate weather. These sweater are high in quality for a very good price. I reccomend them.
