Not just for skin

posted 5 years ago

Although this is rarely a bad choice, it isn't always what the dog needs. My last dog's coat looked terrible so I supplemented with fatty acids and didn't see improvement. Turns out her painkillers had stopped working to control her pain.

She was a very smart dog though so I guess the extra lipids were good for her brain!

Pros: good

Cons: no

Keeps coat shiny

posted 5 years ago

I give these to my lab who has chronically itchy skin. This supplement is high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids which are great for the coat and skin. After about a month of using these capsules, I saw a marked reduction in his itching and a decrease in the amounts of flaking. At times, I have gone for periods where I forget to give them to him or I run out and within a week I can tell I've forgotten to give them. My dog loves the taste and gobbles it right up. The only drawback is these are probably a little more expensive than human-grade fish oil that you can buy.

Pros: dogs like the taste, makes coat shiny, eases itching

Cons: none
