If your pet's hair is matted, the skin can't "breathe" and it can actually harbor pests, like fleas and ticks. Works great at working out mats close to skin without injuring the pet....if you know what you're doing! If you are not a professional, please take your pet to a groomer or a veterinarian and let them show you how to use it. You can cut/rip your pets skin with one of these if you don't know how to hold it correctly.
