Nootie Pet Shampoo keeps fur tangle-free and smelling fresh.

July 28, 2011 12:16 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

When I scrubbed our tester pooch up the other day with Nootie Pet Shampoo’s latest dazzler – Cucumber Melon – I got a blast of fresh scent as promised: cucumber with just the subtlest hints of melon. Made from aloe and oatmeal, Nootie’s formula is designed to leave your pet’s coat soft and glossy – and from our trial run, the shampoo definitely delivers on that front.

The only drawback to the Nootie Pet Shampoo is that, for my taste, the scent is a bit strong. Call me old-fashioned, but I only like to smell the scent of my pet’s shampoo when I get within a foot or two of his scalp, not when say… he’s in the other room. But if your pooch has a particularly pungent natural smell, the strength of the scent might actually be a plus.

Scent strength aside, I highly recommend Nootie Pet Shampoo’s soothing and detangling properties. The folks at Nootie use only the best ingredients and in this tradition, have created a clean, simple formula to keep your dog looking great. Of course, the shampoo is completely natural and soap-free, so you don’t have to worry about skin irritation or nasty run-off that could be bad for the environment. The product is also safe to use with topical flea and tick products, and is free of parabens and sulfates.

The directions for the product recommend a leave-in time of 3-5 minutes but if your dog is anything like our tester pooch, he’ll be bouncing off the walls by then. I recommend leaving him sudsed up for anywhere between 1 and 2 minutes – or really, as long as you can keep him/her from squirming free. After that, you can enjoy your fresh-smelling, clean pooch.

Pros: All-natural formula; pleasing scent; keeps fur smooth and detangled.

Cons: Scent may be too strong for some pet owners.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
