Works in some situations with some pets...
posted 5 years ago
I think people expect this product to solve all their animal's behavioral problems. When used in the appropriate situation, with the right animal and with concurrent behavior modification - it can be effective. Spraying it all over and expecting it to be a magical cure is not going to work. If the animal really wants to chew something, etc. - and one is not providing training/behavior modification/alternatives - the animals are going to go right through this product...
Pros: ok for some situations
Cons: none

Stopped my dog from chewing- didn't hurt the furniture
posted 5 years ago
When my Westie was a pup, he loved to chew, especially on my coffee table. My friends- owners of a Shitzu- had used it with their dog and recommended it to me. It worked great for us and I didn't feel like the punishment was coming from me. He stopped chewing pretty early on. It only took some of one small spray bottle. The only downside is I know some people who have tried it, and it didn't stop their dogs at all. Buy the small bottle just in case it doesn't take.
Pros: inexpensive, worked great
Cons: doesn't deter some dogs

Works if you know how to use this
posted 4 years ago
A lot of people don't use bitter apple the right way, so it doesn't work for many of them. You can't just lightly spray it on a cushion or something your dog wants to chew on that you don't want them chewing on. The best way to use it is to spray a mist across your dogs nose (sideways, not into their face!), saturate a cotton ball, stick it in your dogs mouth between cheek and teeth, and let them get a taste of the nasty stuff. That way they actually associate the smell with the nasty taste. Then you can spray it a bit liberally on the stuff you don't want chewed.
Pros: Can work
Cons: Gotta know how to use it

Great training aid
posted 5 years ago
This is a great product to train your dog with. It tastes bitter and they hate it. If you want your dog to stop chewing something this stuff works great. It helped my dog when he was younger.
Pros: Trains pets well
Cons: have to avoid pets eyes
