The Pet-ZZZ-Pad Heating Pad makes pet beds cozy and comfy.

February 8, 2011 5:02 pm | By Zootoo Editor Flinn D.

If your pet suffers from hip and joint pain or just needs a cozier bed, the Pet-ZZZ-Pad Pet Heating Pad from the folks at As Seen on TV might be for you. The pad, which is approved by both the American Kennel Club and the Cat Fanciers Association, can fit into most standard pet beds, and is pet-activated. What does “pet-activated” mean? Pets step on the pad to turn it on, and the pad automatically turns off when your pet steps off of the pad.

In the first attempt at integrating this heating pad into our tester dog’s bed, the Pet-ZZZ-Pad was clearly appealing — he curled up to the pad without hesitation. Our feline test was even more successful. With the addition of the Pet-ZZZ-Pad to a (previously somewhat neglected) cat bed, our tester feline began to prefer the warm sleeping nook to other heat sources. So if your cat has ever tried to nap in potentially dangerous hot spots, or near radiators or appliances, this heating pad might be especially useful in breaking his bad habits.

The design touches of the Pet-ZZZ-Pad are equally thoughtful. The cover is machine-washable, and the pad itself wipes clean. Because the fleece cover is not as soft to the touch as some pet bed materials, you may find that fitting the pad inside another bed, as the product is meant to be used, works better for your pet than trying to use the pad on its own — especially if your pet is particularly finicky about napping spots.

Bottom line: For arthritic or senior pets, or pets who need some encouragement to nap in their own bed instead of yours, the Pet-ZZZ-Pad is a nifty napping luxury.

Pros: Pet-activated, fits easily into most pet beds; machine-washable.

Cons: None.

I have 3 cats and they love this food. They eat less and walk away with a full belly. Eating less means pooping less and less litter. All around a great choice for my cats.
